We had a thought when, in 2018, during his visit to Washington DC, the President of the Republic of Ghana, His Excellence Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo had declared 2019 the year of the return of the diaspora and African-Ascendants
This initiative will be part of the 400th anniversary of “the arrival of Africans in the English colonies in 1619 at Point Comfort in Virginia.” It will coincide with the biennial Pan-African Historical Festival (Panafest), which is held in Cape Coast, where Cape Coast Castle and Elmina Castle are located; two buildings recognized by UNESCO (United Nations Organization for the education, science and culture) as World Heritage sites linked to slavery.
Indeed, it was in December of that same year Boris Kodjoe, a Hollywood actor with a German-Ghanaian origin, went down to Ghana with several friends of his status, among others: the late Chadwick Boseman, Anthony Anderson, Idris Elba, Michael Jai White, Naomi Campbell, and Djimon Hounsou, to celebrate the return to Full Circle festival.
With all this, we understood that AfricanAncestry.com had played a decisive role in the precise choice of the massive displacement of African-Americans on the continent during the year of 2019.
It’s in this capacity that our Foundation would like to Incorporate into its major objective the invitation to all African-Ascendants to conduct their ancestral DNA test with African Ancestry, the only one formed by two African-Ascendants for all African-Ascendants in order to reconnect with their ancestral roots.
